The background
Most aurora tools answer a space-weather question. AOTEAURORA starts with the question a person in New Zealand actually has: is it worth going outside from here, tonight?
An active Sun is only part of the answer. The aurora also has to reach far enough north, the sky needs to be dark, cloud has to cooperate, and moonlight can change what your eyes or camera will see.
How it works
AOTEAURORA turns specialist signals into a practical conditions rating. It does not pretend that a forecast is a guarantee.

Your New Zealand location and the southern auroral oval turn a global event into a locally useful threshold.
Low, middle and high cloud, visibility and haze can decide whether an active aurora is actually observable.

AOTEAURORA is a commercial application developed, published and operated by AOTEAURORA LIMITED. Its Google Play listing is in progress, with an Apple App Store release planned.
