# AddVenture — Support

**AddVenture** is a mental maths game for children aged 8–11. It teaches the
*strategies* that make a calculation easy — Make 10, compensation, halve and
double — rather than drilling for speed.

## Getting help

Email **nzbennycohen@gmail.com**. Please include:

- which device and operating system you are using
- what you were doing when the problem happened
- what you expected to happen instead

I read every message.

## Common questions

**Does my child need an account?**
No. There is no sign-up, no login, and no password. Progress is saved on the
device itself.

**Does it need an internet connection?**
No. Once installed, AddVenture works entirely offline.

**Is my child's data safe?**
The app collects nothing and sends nothing. See the
[privacy policy](PRIVACY.md).

**Where is my child's progress stored?**
On the device, in local storage. It is not backed up to any server. Uninstalling
the app, clearing site data, or using the reset option inside the app will erase
it.

**Can I see how my child is doing?**
Yes — the "For grown-ups" screen shows each technique and whether your child has
genuinely secured it. A technique only counts as secure once they have chosen it
themselves and then applied it to a fresh problem unprompted, so getting answers
right by luck does not register.

**Can I change the difficulty?**
Yes. The practice screen has Easier, Standard and Harder settings.

Easier and Standard change only the size of the numbers, never the technique
being taught. Harder does both: the numbers grow, and two extra topics appear —
volume at the Tile Garden, and percentages at the Sharing Tree. Neither shows up
at the other settings, so you decide when your child meets them.

**How do the rewards work?**
Rewards are optional and entirely yours to set. In the grown-up screen you write
real-world rewards you are happy to give — a chore-free night, choosing the
movie. Your child earns them by mastering techniques, never by time spent
playing. If you add none, your child is told nothing about rewards at all.

**Can I get a refund?**
Refunds are handled by the store you purchased from — Microsoft or Google —
under their own policies.

## Reporting a problem with the maths

If your child is taught something that looks wrong, please tell me. The
explanations are checked automatically against real arithmetic, but if something
reads confusingly or a strategy is explained in a way that does not match how it
is taught at your school, I want to know.

Email **nzbennycohen@gmail.com** with the problem shown on screen and what looked
wrong.
